Nose Ring Live Bait Rigs

Gamakatsu’s new Nose Ring Live Bait Rigs will change live bait fishing forever. This innovative new rig will allow any angler to present live bait in a more natural way and keep the bait alive until it’s taken. This rig consists of a small ring that is inserted through the nasal cavity of baitfish. The ring has a piece of plastic tubing attached to it that the leader runs through with the hook tied at the end. With the nose ring in place, the hook can be placed near the back of the bait in non-vital area that won’t impede its swimming action or injure it. Once in place, a peg is placed in the plastic tube to hold the line in place with a little slack between the hook and the tubing. Too often, baitfish when rigged in the back or the head with a single hook, end up fighting the hook too much or end up being killed too soon by a large hook in a vital area. This rig keeps the bait alive and swimming naturally for the perfect presentation.

The nose ring also helps hold the bait on so it won’t come off when it’s cast or trolled. This is especially important with fragile baitfish like Herring. This rig can be fished with either live or dead bait, trolled, or cast. The Nose Ring Live Bait Rigs are available in four different hook sizes and are tied with a very tough, high quality clear monofilament; Size 2 with 10lb leader, 1/0 with 20lb., 3/0 with 20lb., and 3/0 with 30lb. The hook is Gamakatsu’s newest live bait hook with a thinner diameter for delicate baits, but forged for extra strength and has an offset beak point. It’s very strong and has a corrosion resistant NS Black finish. The 3/0 30lb is attached to the hook with a loop knot to keep the hook moving freely with the heavy monofilament. Each rig comes set up and ready to go with the pegs in place and each leader is approximately four feet in length.
